The Pennbrook Middle School Wind Ensemble is a select group of students in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade, who play wind or percussion instruments. The students are selected by audition from the 7th through 9th grade concert bands. Rehearsals alternate between morning and night rehearsals one day a week, starting in October and going until the end of May. The emphasis of the group is to further develop ensemble skills such as listening, blend and balance, and intonation. The musical selections are challenging and students are expected to practice their parts individually at home. The group performs about five times throughout the year for school concerts, other schools in the district, community events, and adjudication festivals.
